The Daybreakers is a 1960 novel set in the latter half of 19th-century America (1867), written by Louis L'Amour.It is the first novel that he wrote about a Welsh and English family surnamed Sackett.
In "The Sackett Companion", L'Amour described "The Man From the Broken Hills" as being a Talon book. He wanted the Talon and Chantry books to be seen as series of books separate from the Sackett books. Yet, at the same time, he had already written and planned future stories establishing various connections between the three families.

I'm reading Treasure Mountain, book 17 in the Sackett series. In chapter XVIII, on the seventh page (I'm using Google books and don't see an actual page number).
