    If you were building a frigate in 1:48 you'd really want the 3" size, but the 3" blocks work fine for a 1:96 scale build too. The 3" blocks are heavy, also. I use them as weights to hold frames tight to the keel/rising wood in plank on frame scratch building. Here is how I use them to glue up a frame truly square. The model is 1:64 scale:
