The Doctor is a 1991 American drama film directed by Randa Haines. It is loosely based on Dr. Edward Rosenbaum 's 1988 memoir A Taste Of My Own Medicine . [1] [2] He is best known for the autobiographical chronicle of his experience with throat cancer, The Doctor, [3] (initially published as A Taste of My Own Medicine [4]), which was the basis of the movie The Doctor, starring William Hurt as a physician modeled on Dr. Rosenbaum.
