- Xbox Series S has some visual clipping below Performance mode on PS5/XSX, especially in some vegetation and ambient occlusion. - Series S and PS5/XSX in Quality mode, show a locked framerate at 30fps with good stability. - In Performance mode, Xbox Series X has a higher framerate than PS5 in the same mode.
And the latter point is why I said in the Series S thread that the Series S is effectively a current-gen "grandfathered" console. Instead of a "downgrade" of a next-gen console, I consider the Series S a next-gen compatible current-gen console. Experience-wise, I anticipate the Series S will be more like the Xbox One X than the Series X or PS5.
6 GB of ram seems to be negligible enough of a price barrier to MS so I'm not sure why they created such a sizable headache with the reduction.
The Baldurs Gate 3 still drops low as 20fps on PS5 and SX even after Series S optimization gains. Wukong is not available on Series S at all and it runs like hot crap on PS5. A future Series S optimization will most likely make Wukong run better on PS5.
To be fair, it’s quite in line with the PS4 Pro (4.2 TF and 217GB/s bandwidth).
