Dr. Bell took off from Billings flying west-southwest to Park City and back, a 40-mile (65 km) round trip. This flight was captured by local artist J.K. Ralston in his painting entitled First Flight, displayed in the airport lobby. In 1927, the City of Billings approved $5,000 and 400 acres (160 hectares) on top of the Rims to build a runway.
It is used primarily for hotel space, and is the tallest hotel building in Montana. [1] The DoubleTree is unusual among high-rises in that it is built almost entirely of bricks in an applied masonry facade; the structure contains 2,372,982 red clay bricks that were formed in an 1869 kiln.

Billings is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Montana, with a population of 117,116 as of the 2020 census. [4] Located in the south-central portion of the state, it is the seat of Yellowstone County and the principal city of the Billings Metropolitan Area, which had a population of 184,167 in the 2020 census. [5]
It is located in the Transwestern Plaza in downtown Billings. The Transwestern Plaza is a complex consisting of four office towers with a total of 35 floors, it is the largest commercial development in Montana.
