Tuborg is a Danish brewing company founded in 1873 on a harbour in Hellerup, to the north of Copenhagen, Denmark. Since 1970 it has been part of the Carlsberg Group . The brewery's flagship, the Tuborg pilsner , was brewed for the first time in 1880.
Tuborg Brewery merged with De Forenede Bryggerier in 1894. His son-in-law, Benny Dessau, was CEO of the company. The company Philip W. Heyman was continued by his widow and son Aage Philip Heyman. [3] Another daughter, Gerda Heyman, was a sculptor. She married the painter Charles William Madvig (1874–1940).
In 1873 followed the cofounding of the Tuborg brewery and the consolidation of several smaller coffee substitute companies forming De Danske Cikoriefabrikker. In 1881 several smaller distillers were merged to form De Danske Spritfabrikker and in 1891 the merger of several independent breweries formed De Forenede Bryggerier .
Imported beer accounted for only 8% of total volume sales in 2006. This indicates that beer sales in Denmark are dominated by domestic brands; however, imports increased by 14% in 2006 to reach 36.3 million litres. Germany is the most important source market for imports. Danish beer exports was 296.1 million litres in 2006.

The brewery is now part of the IBBL visitors center, in which visitors tour the brewery and the Carlsberg factory. [5] IBBL produces Carlsberg Beer and Tuborg Beer. In addition to beer, the company produces "Malty", a non-alcoholic beverage, as well as the "Prigat" brand juice-based drinks and nectars. [6]
