In February 2015, Cardinal Newman's new sixth form centre, Newman College, was opened by Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor (1932–2017). It provides classrooms, a lecture theatre, a library, a common room and offices. [23] In 2018, 78% of A-level students achieved A*-C grades which is the highest of any school sixth form in Brighton and Hove. [24]
The league, and subsequently the team, folded in 1911, and led to the creation of a Catholic College Old Boys F.C., changing the name to Newman College F.C. in 1982. The Choir of Newman College, established in 2002, is a chapel and concert choir. [1] Newman has a strong sporting culture, having won more than half of the intercollegiate football premierships ever played. The college is also a strong participant in intercollegiate art, music and culture events, winning the 2022 Intercollegiate Culture Cup.
