Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet is a 1971 composition by Gavin Bryars based on a loop of an unknown homeless man singing a brief improvised stanza. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The loop was possibly the singer's recollection of the chorus of a gospel hymn, by James M Black , published in 1911.
Both "Hymn" and "Fanfare" were part of a suite of short songs on side 2 of the album. [1] [2] [3] Both songs were recorded at A&R Studios in New York.[2]Musicologist James Perone finds the song to be "interesting," particularly with its relationship to Taylor's life and certain Beatles influences.
