Mold (Welsh: Yr Wyddgrug ⓘ) is a town and community in Flintshire, Wales, on the River Alyn. It is the county town and administrative seat of Flintshire County Council , as it was of Clwyd from 1974 to 1996.

The River Alyn (Welsh: Afon Alun) is a tributary of the River Dee in north-east Wales. It rises at the southern end of the Clwydian hills and the Alyn Valley forms part of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The main town on the river is Mold, the county town of Flintshire.
Like many villages of the early 20th century, Gwernymynydd had a local benefactor, the Waln family of Fron Hall. Mold Hospital was given by them, some of its modern equipment, including it is thought, an operating table. Ambrose Waln started a highly successful scout troop for the local boys, providing equipment, kit and premises.
The village sits on the B5431 road, near the junction with the B5430, six miles south of the market town of Mold, at approximate Ordnance Survey map grid reference. The boundaries of Llanarmon-yn-Iâl community include, as well as the main village, the villages of Eryrys and Graianrhyd, along with a number of small hamlets and large areas of farmland.
Pantymwyn is a small village just outside Mold in Flintshire, Wales, in the community of Gwernaffield with Pantymwyn. The village is located within the designated Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, lying on the east side of the Clwydian Range. Pantymwyn is four miles west of Mold and 16 miles west of Chester.
