The name "Clopay Building" was a portmanteau of "clothing" and "paper". [4] It was the tallest building in the state from its completion in 1904 until 1913. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017. The building was purchased by Texan investment firm Newcrest Image in 2016 at a cost of $9.3 million.
The company was founded in 1982 by Ken Hendricks and Diane Hendricks.It grew from a single store in Wisconsin to having over 700 branches in 49 states nationwide and sales of over 11 billion dollars.
