The bar was initially called the "Dutch Mill Tavern" but changed to its current name after an ownership change in 1973. After the ownership change, darts was introduced to the establishment and was described by The Daily Herald as "the dart headquarters for the Windy City and Northern Illinois dart leagues" in 2008. The player throwing the darts is the "batter". Each dart thrown is the same as a pitch in baseball. Darts may be thrown overhanded, underhanded or both depending on league rules. Players throw darts towards the playing field from the pitcher's line at a distance of 25 feet. Where the dart lands on the board determines the outcome of each pitch.

In 1935, Lyons Township (LaGrange) joined the league, and the following year West Chicago dropped out. The league membership stayed stable until 1951, when Arlington joined the league.
