I recently purchased a dell laptop (windows 10 )with a free trial of McAfee. I do not wish to use McAfee so I uninstalled the program via add/remove programs. I noted some McAfee files remained on my PC, therefore I also ran MCPR tool. The files are still there. if I search for McAfee on my laptop I am still finding files.

Windows Defender is now very capable and is fully updated on a regular Basis. McAfee will get into everywhere on your PC. McAfee will slow down your PC. McAfee is not free and when it runs out (the trial period is short), you will no longer be protected as it will not scan in Real TIme.
Whether you want to use Windows Defender or want to install another AV depends on your own preferences and habits. Personally, I prefer a third party product. No matter which AV you use, there might be situations in which you want to use other Anti-Malware programs for occasional, on-demand scans. With regard to McAfee also please read this post.
Issues removing mcafee. After a long winded battle with incompatible drivers I decided it was time to reset my pc. I opted to completely remove everything and start from scratch. After the reset I found that Mcafee was installed once again on my pc. I personally find the web advisor for this program to be more of a problem than it’s worth.
