Cloverdale Township is one of thirteen townships in Putnam County, Indiana. As of the 2020 census, its population was 3,887 (down from 3,929 at 2010 [3]) and it contained 1,698 housing units. [4] Cloverdale Township was organized in 1846. [5]

During the tornado outbreak of November 17th, 2013, an EF-2 tornado struck the southern end of Cloverdale before dissipating, where minor to moderate structural damage occurred, and many trees and power lines were downed. [8] A church in town sustained extensive damage to its walls and roof, and a nearby home sustained collapse of a wall. [9]
