Ravichandran was born on 30 May 1961 in Tirunelveli, Madras State (now Tamil Nadu), India to Tamil Mudaliyar N. Veeraswamy and Pattammal. His father is N. Veeraswamy was a producer of Kannada films. Ravichandran married Sumathi, on Valentine's Day; 14 February 1986. [9] The couple has a daughter Geethanjali, two sons Manoranjan and Vikram.

Sipayi is a 1996 Kannada-language action film, directed and produced by V. Ravichandran. The film stars Ravichandran and Soundarya in lead roles with Chiranjeevi appearing in an extended cameo. Music and lyrics were composed by Hamsalekha. The movie was later dubbed in Telugu as Major, and released on 5 December 1998. It was also dubbed in Tamil.

She eventually convinced the producer of Chinna Thambi to become Ramachaari's producer. She also purchased dubbing rights.
