The Church of the Blessed Sacrament is a Roman Catholic parish church under the authority of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at Beach Avenue and Gleason Avenue, Soundview, the Bronx, New York City. The parish was established in 1927. [1] [2] It was merged into the parish of the Holy Family in 2015.
An organ built by the J.H. & C.S. Odell Organ Builders was donated by the Suydam family. [4] A parish hall was built in 1930 and an education building in 1969. From 1980 to 1987 the church shared a rector and administrative services with nearby St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Harrington Park. [4]
In 1820, Bishop John Connolly of New York sent Richard Bulger to Paterson to serve as first resident priest in New Jersey to Paterson. [4] In 1821, Bulger established St. John the Baptist Church, the first church of any denomination in Paterson. [7] Waves of Irish and German Catholic immigrants flooded into the area during the mid-1800s.
St. Patrick's Parish and Buildings is a historic church on Grand Street, Ocean and Bramhall avenues in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. [3] It was built in 1868 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The stained glass windows in the church were destroyed in the Black Tom explosion of 1916. [4]
