My truck is basically stock other than exhaust and leveling kit. The 5.0 10 speed 3.31 gear combo isn't that bad at all, after I added my 315/75r17 raptor pull of wheels and tires it definetly drug it down.

The shifts are smooth and crisp and it doesn't seem to downshift too early with normal driving. Also, the 5 star tune shifts at about 6800 at wot. My MPT tune holds 1st and 2nd longer in normal driving situations but does seem to "search for the correct gear" on hilly terrains in normal driving conditions. I wouldn't be surprised if 5 Star tuning manipulates mid range torque management for the 7.3L V8. Manufacturers manage mid range torque to reduce stress on drivetrain components like the transmission. At any given RPM increasing torque also increases horsepower. More torque at mid RPMs, but still wide open throttle.

Way less downshifting, holds gears much longer, less noise, better performance. The 5 speeds are said to see more improvement than the 6 speeds.
