The most remote of all Columbus Metro Parks, Clear Creek is located near Rockbridge in the Hocking Hills region of southeast Ohio. Nearly the entire park is designated a State Nature Preserve, making off trail activity prohibited. Unique features of the park include stands of hemlock trees, numerous deep hollows, and wildflowers.
Clear Creek is a tributary of the Hocking River. It starts in western Fairfield County and flows southwest into northern Hocking County . In the upper half of the creek's watershed was glaciated and currently has a large amount of agricultural land use.
The park's 2.75-mile (4.43 km) trail system [3] includes two loop trails, one of which passes the natural bridge, while the other passes a rock shelter. Both formations are located a short distance from the Hocking River on small tributaries. The preserve was acquired by the state of Ohio in 1978. [2]
