Defender of the Motherland Day (Uzbek: Vatan himoyachilari kuni; Russian: День Защитника Отечества) also known as Uzbek Army Day is a holiday observed in Uzbekistan. It is celebrated on 14 January. [1] It is the official professional holiday of the Uzbek Armed Forces.

Defence and Citizenship Day (French: Journée Défense et Citoyenneté, pronounced [ʒuʁne defɑ̃s e sitwajɛnte]) is a day established in 1998 in France by the French president, Jacques Chirac, during his first presidential mandate in the context of the national service reform.
It is presented by the President, heads of central and local executive power bodies, leaders of military formations and foreign representatives. The medal may be awarded posthumously. The "Defender of the Motherland" Medal may be revoked by the President of Ukraine in cases of the recipient being convicted of a grave crime. [1]
