The Muri Lagoon is a lagoon in the district of Ngatangiia on the eastern coast of Rarotonga in the Cook Islands. The lagoon is a significant tourist attraction and the largest tourism revenue earner in the Cook Islands, [ 1 ] accounting for 25% of tourism bed usage on Rarotonga. [ 2 ]

Te Muri Regional Park is a peninsula formed between the Te Muri-O-Tarariki Stream to the north and the Puhoi River to the south. The eastern coastline of the regional park, Te Muri Beach, is the location of Te Muri urupa / cemetery. [2] The highest point in the regional park is PÅ«hoi, an 138 metres (453 ft) hill. [3]
Rarotonga is a very popular tourist destination with many resorts, hotels and motels. The chief town, Avarua , on the north coast, is the capital of the Cook Islands. Captain John Dibbs , master of the colonial brig Endeavour , is credited as the European discoverer on 25 July 1823, while transporting the missionary Reverend John Williams .
Te Ara - Museum of Cultural Enterprise is a museum in Muri in the Ngatangiia District on Rarotonga in the Cook Islands. The museum was established in February 2017 by Julie Smith and Stan Wolfgramm. [1] It aims to display the history of the Cook Islands as well as acting as an incubator for local cultural businesses. [2]
Muri was served by Kapiti Line commuter trains operated by Tranz Metro under the Metlink brand until 2011. Trains running every 30 minutes off-peak, and more frequently during peak periods used to stop in Muri until its closure. [1] The platform and buildings remain in their original state. Commuter trains were operated by electric multiple units.
The part is located on either side of the entrance to the Mahurangi Harbour. [2] The bulk of the regional park is found in Mahurangi West.In addition to this, two exclaves of the park are located on the eastern shores, in Scotts Landing, only accessible by boat.
