International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), commonly referred to as the Hare Krishna movement, is a Gaudiya Vaishnava Hindu religious organization.It was founded by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada [2] on 13 July 1966 in New York City.
After Srila Prabhupada had passed away in 1977, the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (BBT) published in 1983 a "Revised and Enlarged" posthumous edition containing at least one thousand substantial changes. [4] The changes were justified as being "closer to the original manuscript".
