John Henry Steenhuisen (/ ˈ s t iː n h aɪ z ə n / STEE-n-hy-zən; Afrikaans: [ˈjɔɦn ˈstiənˌɦœysən]; born 25 March 1976) [1] is a South African politician who is currently serving as Minister of Agriculture since July 2024.
The minister of agriculture, land reform and rural development was a minister of the Cabinet of South Africa, with political executive responsibility for agriculture, land reform and rural development, as well as for the Agricultural Research Council, the National Agricultural Marketing Council, Onderstepoort Biological Products, the Perishable Products Export Control Board, and Ncera Farms.
The political head of the department is the Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, who is assisted by two deputy ministers. [1] As of August 2020 the minister is Thoko Didiza, [2] the deputy minister for land reform is Mcebisi Skwatsha, [3] and the deputy minister for rural development is Sdumo Dlamini. [4]
