Wisconsin currently has 51 state park units, covering more than 60,570 acres (245.1 km 2) in state parks and state recreation areas. Each unit was created by an act of the Wisconsin Legislature and is maintained by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources , Division of Parks and Recreation.
Brigadier General Benjamin Oliver Davis, Sr. joined the DC National Guard in 1899, around the time of the Spanish-American War, for a short period of time after his regiment was disbanded. In the picture above, Davis is somewhere in France, in August, 1944, observing a Signal Corps crew positioning poles.

The District of Columbia National Guard was brought into federal service April 1898 to fight in the Spanish–American War. [22] The organization of the District of Columbia National Guard modified by Act of the Congress, 11 May 1898 to provide for organization of a naval battalion to consist of not more than four companies of naval militia. [23]
The Department of Military Affairs was created by the 1967 Wisconsin government reorganization act, sponsored by governor Warren P. Knowles (1967 Wisconsin Act 75). At the time, the agency was established to unify command of National Guard and the state Armory Board.

D.C. Air Guard's 231st CMBTCS won the Air National Guard Mission Support Trophy for the year 1995. The trophy is given annually to the number one non-flying unit in the Air National Guard. It was estimated at the time that 600 Air National Guard units were eligible for the award.
