One possible problem area is printing. Currently, Template:Pie chart's legend does not print correctly without "Print backgrounds", because Template:Legend uses background-color. However, in Template:Piechart, this seems to be true for the actual slices as well. My preference for the name of the merged template is "Pie chart", not "Piechart".
