New York State Route 108 (NY 108) is a 1.72-mile-long (2.77 km) north–south state highway located on the Suffolk County side of the Suffolk–Nassau county line on Long Island, New York, in the United States.
New York State Route 454 (NY 454), also known as the Suffolk County Veterans Memorial Highway or simply Vets Highway, is a 13.67-mile (22.00 km) east–west state highway in western and central Suffolk County on Long Island in New York. It spans from NY 25 (Jericho Turnpike) in Commack to NY 27 (Sunrise Highway) in Holbrook.
Suffolk County (/ ˈ s ʌ f ə k / SUF-ək) is the easternmost county in the U.S. state of New York, constituting the eastern two-thirds of Long Island.It is bordered to its west by Nassau County, to its east by Gardiners Bay and the open Atlantic Ocean, to its north by Long Island Sound, and to its south by the Atlantic Ocean.
It intersects NY 135 in Plainview and briefly overlaps Round Swamp Road (unsigned CR 110) before continuing into western Suffolk County. Old Country Road overlaps Round Swamp Road before crossing the Nassau-Suffolk County Line at the same time as the Long Island Expressway at exit 48. The route has a junction with NY 110 in Melville.
It connects several bedroom communities with major highways such as I-495 (the Long Island Expressway) and NY 27. CR 19 terminates at an intersection with CR 16 in Lake Ronkonkoma. The route was added to the Suffolk County highway system on January 27, 1930, and was amended on January 29, 1965. [2] Route description
In 1970, the alignment of NY 110 was proposed by the Nassau-Suffolk Regional Planning Board to be replaced with a new expressway between NY 27 (Sunrise Highway) and NY 25. The new expressway was proposed to help work with traffic projected to increase along the corridor from 1970 to 1985.
