right now I have 6.5 Superlite put a Mesa Precision Altitude stock, factory everything else. Shooting .5-.75 moa with 124HH 40.0 Varget, neck 1.545, CBTO 2.137, Lapua SRP, CCI primers. I don't have a good Chrono, so not sure of the velocity, but based on my distance drops, it seems to be about 2850-2900 fps.
I ended up loading to the recommended OAL of 2.80. Ends up being about .050 jump in the Savage I was loading these for. Lapua SRP brass 1x fired. CCI #450's. 41.3 gr of H-4350. Gave me right at 1/2 inch 5 shot groups running 2800fps. I was getting pressure signs at 41.6 which was my next step up on the ladder.
Mar 12, 2019. #7. Having shot both the 110 and 124 I prefer the 110 to 500yds in my .260. Flat, fast, lethal, getting 3,200fps in a 22" barrel using 47gr H4350 with 215 primers. In the 6.5 CM Varget by far is your best powder with either bullet. B.
6. Location. Colorado. Dec 3, 2018. #1. It seems everyone shoots heavy bullets in the 6.5 creedmoor is this cause the 1 in 8 won;t shoot 85 grain bullets worth a hoot it seems to me for varmints that would work well for light recoil I'm thinking of replacing a shot out 243 with 6.5 but want something that shoots light bullets as well as heavy ...
2,005. Skagit Valley, WA. Feb 26, 2018. #5. People worry too much about twist rate with light bullets in a cartridge like this. You can shoot 85gr Sierras if you want. IME any weight from there up shoots well in a 1:8 6.5 Creedmoor. It's not like a 22-250 shooting thin jacket 40gr bullets at 4,000+ fps where you have to twist it slow enough to ...
244. 1. May 21, 2012. #5. Re: Varget load for 6.5 Creedmoor. Listen to Rob. The smaller the neck/caliber gets, the slower the powder needs to be with heavier bullets. Take a look at the powders recommended for the 308 and then look at what's recommended for the 243 win (a necked down 308). Big differences in burn rate.
Oct 20, 2021. #30. CTG said: What is the best powder for 6.5 Creedmoor (even if not available) I prefer Varget with 120 to 130 gr bullets and H4350 or R16 for 120 to 147gr bullets. R16 performs well but is a little bulky, resulting in compressed loads sometimes.
Is anybody out there shooting the 6.5 creedmoor with the 153.5 Berger hybrids I'm putting a 6.5 creed together for just bench rest shooting and banging steel at home at distances 26 inch criterion barrel manners prs1 stock just curious if anybody is shooting these heavier bullets out of there creedmoors hoping to get around 2650 is or better any feedback would be great from guys shooting the ...
