Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. George Gascón, left, and former federal prosecutor Nathan Hochman, Gascón's challenger in the November election, have agreed to an Oct. 8 debate.
Of those polled, 35% held a favorable opinion of Hochman and just 7% viewed him unfavorably. Hochman has repeatedly hammered home the idea that the incumbent's policies have left the public less safe.
Returns as of Wednesday morning showed Hochman receiving more than 1.4 million votes and Gascón around 890,000 — or about 61% to 38% in favor of the challenger.
Hochman previously ran unsuccessfully for California attorney general in 2022 as a Republican, but the self-described lifelong centrist was an independent in this race. With Post wires Show comments
