Shaftesbury School is a coeducational secondary day school located in Shaftesbury in the English county of Dorset. [ 2 ] Previously a voluntary controlled Church of England school administered by the Diocese of Salisbury and Dorset County Council , [ 3 ] The school converted to academy status under the Diocese of Salisbury in June 2014.

In September 1943 Port Regis was evacuated to a wing of Bryanston School in Blandford. [3] After a brief stay at the Earl of Verulam's home at Gorhambury, the School moved in 1947 to Motcombe Park, one mile (1.6 km) from Shaftesbury in Dorset, where it has been ever since. In 1972 the freehold of the property was acquired.
The school was built in 1862, and designed by Christopher Crabb Creeke. [1] In 1962, the schools centenary, the school saw a large expansion. Motcombe / ˈ m ɒ t k əm / is a village and civil parish in north Dorset, England. It lies about two miles (three kilometres) north of Shaftesbury. It is sited on Kimmeridge clay soil [1] beneath hills at the edge of the Blackmore Vale. The parish is one of the largest in Dorset. [2]
