Steps we have tried: - Disabled the wifi capabilities of the xfinity modem from the admin portal. - Restrating the modem. - Resetting the personal router. Even after all this, router is not able to connect with the modem through the ethernet cable (I am plugging it in port 1), but when I use the same port with laptop it works.
New XB8 Modem/Router - Unable to use WiFi6E/6Ghz. Hello -. I was able to update to an XB8 modem/router about one month ago. We are an Apple centric household and we have multiple devices in the house that are fully capable of using the 6Ghz signal. However, the Xfinity router connects them to the 5 GHz band; I have no devices being connected to ...

1 - Cable to laptop. 2 - Cable to patch panel jack (extension to other room in home) Other side of my home has an Airport Extreme connected to the Ethernet port in the wall. I don't know if that's technically different than if I had a 50' Ethernet cable connecting the Airport to my Xfinity router. WiFi continues to work fine from the Airport.

I tried for 2 weeks and 2 different modems and routers. It failed me both times and spent days trying to get this ...
To the extent that fan noise is a defect, these units are all defective to a one. What I don't understand is why the XB3 (my former gateway) can be manufactured to be completely silent, while this XB6 sounds like something from 20 years ago. EDIT: I'd read that the Arris XB6 (TG3482G) is supposedly silent, unlike the Technicolor XB6 (CGM4140COM).
I replaced my Xfinity modem/ router one year ago ( Xfinity equipment ). I have a lightbulb that can be controlled with an app, and it needs to pair with 2.4Ghz. Since I replaced the modem/ routerI no longer see the option to choose 2.4Ghz.
Pro: it's only a modem, no need to worry about putting it in bridge mode. Price: $140. ARRIS Surfboard G54. Seems to be the Rolls Royce. But I am not interested by the router or wifi access point embedded. Per my research, we can setup the device in bridge mode. Cons: expensive because many unnecessary features.
