I am now expecting any day, to see Midland introduce the absolute ultimate in minimalist communications for the non-radio-geek. Picture it! "The New Midland TCCC" (Tin Can Communications Center). "Midland R&D has just developed a new communications device which will revolutionize communications with family, friends, and neighbors.
After completing the reset ensure you have reset the PL code (if being used) for the channel you are using. - Press and release the Menu button to a place the radio in “Menu” mode. - Use the Volume Up or Volume Down button to scroll through the menu options until the LCD display shows Pt, then press the Lock button.
Posted February 9, 2021. I also just talked with Midland tech support about the new 50W mobile. They said there will be an MXT500 (regular mobile version) and an MXT575 version with all controls on the microphone, like the MXT275. Tech Support (Sara) could not provide a release date but said it would definitely be in 2021.
I have a Midland USA MXT500 radio that is not owned by a chinese corporation. My Midland puts out around 50 watts, don't remember exactly, probably more like 48 or 49 watts. I think MXT500 is a great quality radio but definitely lack a ton of features.
Just saw this thread and see you got your answer from Midland. Interesting response from them. Back in March of 2021, I found a Midland radio offered for sale in Australia (Midland ML-80) which looks like an MXT275 with different firmware. This radio is programmable via software (only available through authorized dealers) and is capable of wide and narrow band emissions, so I emailed Midland USA
Midland advised me to send it in and they would update the firmware, but wouldn’t even cover the shipping to them. Since I was within the Amazon return period I elected to return the radio. We installed the higher power MTX575 that was previously in my 4Runner, and it works great. To do it again, I’d go with a different brand radio altogether.
You can plug a GMRS radio onto a mag mount antenna in the car. Or you can choose a bigger, better hand held antenna like a Smiley super stick 465 or a Nagoya 771. A better antenna does not take more current out of your battery like a higher power radio either. And it also helps the guy on the other end if your antenna has some gain. Vince
TL;DR Midland MXT575 not Transmitting on GMRS Channels. Need help fixing this issue. I am brand new to GMRS radios. And for my vehicle I purchased the Midland MXT575, installed it with the supplied items. Power line directly to battery and ground. Use the magnetic mount with the MXTA26. I have gone over the manual, only made changes to turning ...
If you plan on replacing your radio then look at the Wouxun KG-XS20G Plus 20 watt mobile. It is a lot better than a Midland radio. I have one mounted in my SxS connected to a Comet 2x4SR antenna and get great signal reports from everyone using the repeater that is 21 miles away.
out of the box, you probably have to enable the repeater channels in the menu (look for option 'rp' and set it to 'on'). next, pick the repeater you want to access, note the frequency and tone, and figure out which channel it equates to. (pg 27 has a chart of channel to frequencies). switch to that channel, then back into the menu, and you have ...
