From personal experience I would caution driving a 22' truck and towing anything behind it. Unless you have a lot of experience it could be very nerve wracking. I did the opposite in that I towed the largest Uhaul trailer behind my Jeep Grand Cherokee from Virginia to Texas. The tractor trailer drivers show NO mercy driving on the highways!
My husband and I reserved a U-haul enclosed 5x8 trailer for our cross-country move (2,000 miles) a month out, but we got a call this morning from a Renting an enclosed trailer for cross-country move (job, Uhaul, Budget) - General Moving Issues -moving companies, movers, relocation, self-storage, transport, packing...
If it is a flat-bed trailer, either will fit as I have put a 1969 Mercury Monterrey convertible on one. If it is a tow-dolly, the width of the carrier is important so that the drive wheels will fit. Driving a thousand miles, you will get about 8 mpg in the truck. As to pulling a trailer, check and see if your car can actually do that.
Gasbuddy.com has a trip estimator that accounts for fuel prices along the route. It's a handy tool, but keep in mind that the convenience of a truck stop's wide open lot and fast pumps means you'll pay a little more. It's worth it if you aren't skilled with the truck and trailer.
If you care about your car, I would try to stick to 55. If you have to slam on your brakes at 65 mph or take some other evasive action with the trailer behind you, the results might not be positive. Plus do you really want to be bouncing all your belonging around it side the truck? Just take it easy, and get every thing there in one piece.
Family owned for a long time and going by reviews it is well taken care of. The city rating is 31. Motel reviews rating is 4.7 out of a possible 5. (4.7/5). It is a small area of only around 700 residents, so it doesn't take much crime to drop the numerical score. I first saw the motel listed in a book on budget motels.
Do any of you own rental properties in Chicagoland, and how is that going for you? AAVC. 10-21-2024 01:41 PM.
It cost around 8 grand for the wood, stain, waterproofing etc plus @ 2 grand for a new trailer. Have a feeling that hoping to make it for 12 - 15 grand is a bit too low. Plus ours was just a shell that was very sturdily built, waterproof that is 24 long by 7 1/2 wide by 12 high.
