Bloemfontein is located in central South Africa on the southern edge of the Highveld at an elevation of 1,400 metres (4,600 ft), bordering on the semi-arid region of the Karoo. The area is generally flat with occasional hills ("koppies" in Afrikaans), and the general vegetation is Highveld grassland.
Willows is a suburb of Bloemfontein.It housed the first post office which was built in Bloemfontein. The post office was built in King Edward Drive, and most young people would know it as King Edward Cafe, however due to communication gaps, King Edward Cafe was demolished in 2006, to make space for residential flats.
Its sister school is St. Michael's School, a girls' school which is located nearby in Bloemfontein. The school is the second oldest in Bloemfontein, behind Grey College and is amongst the oldest in the country. The school truly boasts an 'all-round education' for boys with a 100% pass rate and a 95% Bachelor's Pass in the 2024 Matric exams.

Universitas used to be a white suburb of the city of Bloemfontein during the Apartheid era. Today, the racial composition is mixed, and a significant number of the family homes in the suburb have been adapted to serve as communal student accommodation, due to the favourable location near the campuses of the Free State University as well as the Central University of Technology.
The Independent Institute of Education was founded in 2004 as the academic leadership and governance body within the ADvTECH Group. It is responsible for overseeing all of the Group's academic campuses, and developing, assessing, certifying, and overseeing the delivery of curricula at its campuses.
