The LTV A-7 Corsair II is an American carrier-capable subsonic light attack aircraft designed and manufactured by Ling-Temco-Vought (LTV). The A-7 was developed during the early 1960s as replacement for the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk .
Description: A U.S. Navy Ling-Temco-Vought A-7A-4b-CV Corsair II (BuNo 153223) of Attack Squadron 147 (VA-147) "Argonauts" en route to North Vietnam in 1968-69. VA-147 was assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing 2 (CVW-2) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger (CVA-61) during a deployment to Vietnam from 26 Oct 1968 to 17 May 1969.

VA-12 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 7 (CVW-7) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) for a deployment to the Mediterreanean Sea from 16 January to 13 July 1979. Note: The date given (16 April 1987) has to be incorrect, as VA-12 was disestablished on 1 October 1986. Due to the paint scheme the photo was taken in the 1970s.

The Hellrazors received their final designation VA-174 on 1 July 1966 after becoming the first US Navy squadron to receive the A-7A Corsair II. It was the second squadron to bear the VA-174 designation, the first VA-174 was disestablished on 25 January 1950. The squadron was disestablished on 30 June 1988. [2]

Attack Squadron 82 (VA-82) was established on 1 May 1967 as a light attack squadron flying the Vought A-7A Corsair II. The Marauders made their first deployment aboard USS America during her maiden cruise to the waters off North Vietnam in April 1968.
