"Joker & the Thief" is a song by Australian rock band Wolfmother. The song serves as the sixth track and sixth single from the band's eponymous debut studio album . It was released in Australia on 28 October 2006 and in the United Kingdom on 20 November 2006. [ 2 ]

Wolfmother was first issued in Australia on 30 October 2005 through Modular Recordings. [5] Prior to its release it was played on high rotation on radio station Triple J, and as a result was the featured album of the week starting 28 October, [6] won both the inaugural J Award [7] and the listener's choice Album of the Year. Four songs – "Dimension", "Woman", "White Unicorn" and "Apple Tree" – had originally been released on the band's self-titled debut EP the previous year. Media response to Please Experience Wolfmother Live was mixed. Writing for The Sunday Times online publication PerthNow, Polly Coufos awarded the album three and a half stars out of five, proposing that "[Wolfmother's] brutal sound invokes the gods of metal past, with just enough tongue-in-cheek humour to keep outsiders interested too", praising "Joker & the Thief" as the highlight. After more lineup changes, Stockdale stopped using the Wolfmother name in 2013 and released a collection of recent recordings under his own name as Keep Moving. [13] The band returned shortly after the album's release, however, and later released their third album New Crown in March 2014, [14] which reached number 160 on the Billboard 200. [5]
Stockdale is best known as the lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and only continuous member of the rock band Wolfmother, which he founded in 2004.
