In 1958, on the recommendation of studio boss Desi Arnaz, Calhoun co-produced and starred in the television series The Texan, which aired on Monday evenings until 1960. He said in a 1959 article that the only two good films he made were With a Song in My Heart and How to Marry a Millionaire , with the rest being "terrible".
From 1987 to 1988, he starred as the title character the detective series J.J. Starbuck. Robertson also played Frank Crutcher in five episodes of the TV series Dallas during the 1982–83 season. In December 1993 and January 1994, Robertson appeared in two episodes of Harts of the West in the role of Zeke Terrell. [17]

In 1957, she guest-starred in the episode "The Diet" of the sitcom Mr. Adams and Eve, credited as "Fat Woman." In 1958, she appeared as "Boxcar Annie" on the television western Tales of Wells Fargo in the episode titled "Butch Cassidy". In 1959, she appeared on the TV series The Texan as Mary Devlin in the episode "The Telegraph Story".
This pilot episode was expanded into a 74 minute feature film, also named after the titular Texas Ranger. It was released theatrically overseas in 1958 in color, though the TV version on ABC was broadcast in black & white. It featured Robert Middleton, Norma Moore, Robert J. Wilke, Edward Platt and Harry Carey Jr.
