The show was originally ordered to series for a 21-episode first season. However, after the show premiered with good ratings establishing itself as Disney's top series in key boy demographics, and only behind That’s So Raven in kids 2-11 and 6-11, the network decided to order five additional episodes to a total of 26 episodes for the first season.
Warren (played by Gus Hoffman) is a friend of Zack and Cody from school. Warren attends Camp Knock-a-Number along with Cody and Tapeworm in "Cody Goes to Camp". He is also in the Grizzly Scouts along with Zack, Cody and Bob, with Mr. Moseby as their scout leader. Warren made four appearances, but was not seen after Season 2.
Zack initially develops a crush on Bailey after finding out that she is a girl. He starts fighting with Cody over her, but after Mr. Moseby tells them that Bailey is still not over her ex-boyfriend Moose, Zack tells Cody that he can have her. For the first season Cody works to win over Bailey until she eventually becomes his girlfriend.
