Edelman Fossil Park. The Jean and Ric Edelman Fossil Park, located in Mantua Township, New Jersey, consists of a 66-million-year-old 6-inch (150 mm) bone bed set into a 65-acre (26 ha) former marl quarry. [1] It is currently the only facility east of the Mississippi River that has an active open quarry for public Community Dig Days. [2]

Some extinct species are also exclusive to the site, many of them being described by Edward Drinker Cope during the late 19th century.
The site is protected as Ashfall Fossil Beds State Historical Park, a 360-acre (150 ha) park that includes a visitor center with interpretive displays and working fossil preparation laboratory, and a protected ongoing excavation site, the Hubbard Rhino Barn, featuring fossil Teleoceras (native hippo-like ancestral rhinoceros) and ancestral horses.
The Mazon Creek fossil beds are a conservation lagerstätte found near Morris, in Grundy County, Illinois. The fossils are preserved in ironstone concretions , formed approximately 309 million years ago in the mid- Pennsylvanian epoch of the Carboniferous period.
