Anamudi ("Elephant head") is a mountain located in Ernakulam district and Idukki district of the Indian state of Kerala. With an elevation of 2,695 metres (8,842 ft) and a topographic prominence of 2,479 metres (8,133 ft), it is the highest peak in the Western Ghats and in South India .
It passes near Eravikulam National Park and Anamudi, the tallest Indian peak south of the Himalayas and into Marayoor town, (km 42). It then passes through the centre of Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary , past Chinnar Watchtower and continues to Chinnar Check post, (km 59).

Jambu Malai is a part of Anaimalai Hills. The Anamala or Anaimalai, also known as the Elephant Mountains, are a range of mountains in the southern Western Ghats of central Kerala (Idukki district, Ernakulam district, Palakkad district, Thrissur district) and span the border of western Tamil Nadu (Coimbatore district and Tiruppur district) in Southern India.
Edamalakudy is located at an elevation of 1100–1700 metres, 22 km north-west of Pettimudi, a village about 4 km west of the Anamudi, the tallest mountain peak in South India on the border of Ernakulam district and Idukki district. Pettimudi was hit by a landslide in 2018 and the debris have not been cleared.

It is composed of Mannavan shola, Idivara shola and Pullardi shola, covering a total area of around 7.5 km². Draft notification of this new park was issued on 21 November 2003. [1]
