Originally, when the park opened in 1992, the restaurant was known as Aux Epices Enchantées (With Enchanted Spices). [1] It is the main building of the African part of Adventureland and features many African artifacts in the setting of a peaceful jungle. Its original meals, however, could be inspired by Africa, Asia or the West Indies.
The restaurant is located beside Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant (Sleeping Beauty Castle), in an old French inn-like building, resembling Cinderella's Château from the movie, complete with a fountain of the princess at the entrance, her pumpkin-shaped carriage, and the tower where she is locked up most of the time.
The restaurant is located on 1401, Flower Street, which is also the location of Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale, California. The three dining rooms located on the ground floor were removed in 1999 to make way for Lilly's Boutique, a shop themed to Lillian Disney, and designed to sell home items.
