The Ames (/ eɪ m z /) company, originally established in 1881 by Frederick A. Ames, was a buggy manufacturer and later an American automobile manufacturer in Owensboro, Kentucky, from 1910 to 1925. A beetle-backed "gentleman's roadster" and a five-passenger tourer were the first models offered for sale by the company.

The Moore Automobile Company of New York City was the manufacturer of the Moore automobile, known as "The Ball Bearing Car". The company was founded in 1906 with a factory in Bridgeport, Connecticut. W. J. P. Moore and F. D. Howe designed a 40-hp four-cylinder with a manganese bronze crankcase and ball bearings used every where.
In 1917, Moore put together a new automobile frame with a rigid box cross-section that eliminated the problem of jammed doors caused by frame flexing. This car also had an emergency brake affixed to the drive shaft. In 1918, Lexington autos featured hardtop enclosures made by the Rex Manufacturing Company, also of Connersville.
