William Cockburn Russell Sheridan (March 25, 1917 – September 24, 2005) was the fifth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Northern Indiana and served from 1972 to 1987. He was born in New York, New York on March 25, 1917, the son of John Russell Sheridan and Gertrude Magdalen Herley Sheridan.
Wright was born December 13, 1940, in Frankfort, Indiana, and is a 1963 Graduate of Ball State University.In his 58 years at Sheridan High through the 2023 season, he had a record of 456–210, including nine Indiana High School state championships.
Sheridan High School has had notable success in football in recent years, winning Class 1A Indiana state championships in 1980, 1984, 1987, 1988, 1992, 1998, 2005, 2006, and 2007.under coach Larry "Bud" Wright, Indiana Hall of Fame Coach. 2007 marked the program's ninth state championship - breaking the state record.

The Episcopal Diocese of Northern Indiana has 33 parishes and missions in 31 counties of northern Indiana. Except for Tippecanoe County, all counties in the state straddling or lying north of 40º 30' North latitude are in the diocese. Fort Wayne is the largest city in the diocese followed by South Bend, Gary, and Elkhart.
