Images should not be changed in ways that materially mislead the viewer. For example, images showing artworks, faces, identifiable places or buildings, or text should not be reversed (although those showing soap bubbles or bacteria might be). Do not change color integral to the subject, such as in images of animals.

Do not explicitly define the size of an image in pixels unless there is a good reason to do so. Preferably the size should be specified as a value relative to the user's preferred thumbnail width, using the |upright= scaling factor parameter rather than pixel values, whenever an image is to be displayed at something other than the default width.
Preserve the original image size, and do not add a border around the image. Place it inline with the text unless overridden with the location attribute. Do not show a caption. If no alt text is specifically requested, use the requested caption as alt text. This option is almost exclusively used in templates.
