The Black Fork Mountain Wilderness Area is located in the U.S. states of Arkansas and Oklahoma. Created by an act of Congress in 1984, the wilderness covers an area of 13,139 acres (53 km²). The Arkansas portion contains 8,430 acres (34.1 km 2 ) and the Oklahoma portion contains 5,140 acres (20.8 km 2 ).
Black Creek Wilderness is a 5,052-acre (20 km 2) wilderness area in the U.S. state of Mississippi. Located within the De Soto National Forest , Mississippi's largest wilderness lies in the broad valley of Black Creek, stained a deep caramel color by the tannic acid of decaying vegetation. [ 1 ]
The wilderness includes its namesake mesa Black Mountain in the northwestern section of the area, rising to an elevation of 3,941 feet (1201 m) from the Mojave Desert. Wildlife includes golden eagles and prairie falcons .
The Black River Wildlife Management Area is located along the Black River (also known as the Lamington River) in Chester Township of Morris County, New Jersey. [2] This WMA is 3,078 acres (12.46 km 2 ) and includes diverse landscape with plentiful flora and fauna.
The river also passes near the Bear Wallow Wilderness, through which flows one of the river's tributaries, Bear Wallow Creek. [7] Some of the places along the lower river are difficult to reach.
