Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid is a 2012 Indian film directed by Nila Madhab Panda. Jal Pari (transl. Mermaid) is a 2011 Pakistani television drama series aired on the Geo Entertainment, directed by Sarmad Sultan Khoosat and written by Sarmad Sehbai. The serial was first aired on 13 October 2011 and last aired on 2 February 2012 and features Neelam Muneer , Adnan Siddiqui , Noman Ijaz and Mikaal Zulfiqar .

I find the discussion of English diminutives a bit strange. From a selection of diminutives from the article (undies, movies, hottie, ambos, firies, perhaps with the exception of the Australian -za forms, which I'm unfamiliar with) I don't see how any of them have anything to do with the definition I quote.
Diminutives are more frequently used than in English. Some words only exist in the diminutive form, e.g. "Kaninchen" ("rabbit") derived from Old French word conin, which in turn is from the Latin diminutive cuniculus. The use of diminutives is quite different between the dialects. The Alemannic dialects for example use the diminutive very often.
