The MRT Line 1 (Bengali: এমআরটি লাইন ১) is Dhaka Metro Rail's rapid transit line under construction. It will be the second of the Dhaka Metro Rail system and will be operated by Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL). Its construction started in February 2023. It is scheduled to open in December 2026. [1]

There will be an interchange for the MRT Line 5 Northern Route and the MRT Line 1's Purbachal route at the Notun Bazar. Hatirjheel East of MRT Line 1 and Aftab Nagar West Station of MRT Line 5: Southern Route will have an Interchange.
The Southern Route (Bengali: সাউদার্ন রুট) is one of the branches of the approved MRT Line 5 line of Dhaka Metro Rail; the other one being the Northern Route. This route is currently in its planning stages. The construction of the Southern Route could begin in 2024 and is scheduled to commence operation by 2030. [1]
