Riksgränsen, (Norwegian: Riksgrensen), The National Border in Swedish, is a ski-resort in Kiruna Municipality, Lappland, Sweden, 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. The skiing season is from February to June. From end of May the lifts operate under the midnight sun. One of the pistes cross the border to Norway and back to Sweden.
Ski resorts (and other venues that issue tickets) commonly use a wicket to secure the ticket (called a "ticket wicket"), a short piece of light wire which loops through the ticket holder's clothing or backpack. The ticket wicket was invented by Killington Ski Resort employee Martin S. "Charlie" Hanley, in 1963, and given its name by his wife Jane.
There are bus transfers to the ski resorts in connection with flights. The distance to the nearest one, Hundfjället, is 10 km (6 mi) and the farthest in the Sälen area, Kläppen, 45 km (28 mi). The distance to Trysil ski resort (the largest in the area) is 43 km (27 mi) and to Idre ski resort 121 km (75 mi). [8]
