The University of Zambia Institutional Repository (UNZA-IR) was established in 2010 with the support of the Netherlands Government [2] to help archive the intellectual output of the university. The repository falls under the UNZA main Library and is headed by the repository manager who oversees the operations of the repository.
In 2012, the University decided to abolish the School of Media, Performing and Fine Arts. As a result, Fine Arts was absorbed into the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, while Theatre Arts was incorporated in the School of Education, thus giving seven programmes to the School of Education, making it the biggest School in the University.
The campus was referred to as the University of Zambia at Ndola (UNZANDO) until 1 December 1987. As of 1 January 1989 the Zambia Institute of Technology (ZIT) was incorporated into the Copperbelt University to form the School of Technology. Since 1987, the university has significantly grown from only two faculties to ten by the end of 2013.
