Reprising most of the content of one of my posts from a couple of years ago: The Phoenix area gun shows put on by Crossroads of the West are mostly really, really good. Sure, you get probably 25% of vendors selling stuff that's not gun-related (like t-shirts, jewelry and jerky), but that just adds to the diversity.

Beretta occasionally sells 92FS pistols to dealers at a discounted rate as they were demo pistols that were on display at trade shows and shown by some of their sales people to customers. These pistols were not fired as part of their demo use so they are essentially news pistols that come with everything that a new one normally comes with.

Personally I would go with the Ruger SP101, of the two candidates you mentioned. My reason is the weight - the SP101 is about 25 ounces empty, and this weight is needed to comfortably shoot .357 magnums in a small revolver. The 340PD weighs about 12 ounces less and is very difficult to shoot because of excessive recoil.
