Ok, the later 2006-2010 New Beetles were a “mix” of Mark IV and V Golf/Jetta parts; as they phased out the 1.8T and base 2.0L motors, then stuck with the 2.5L, as the primary engine. The a/c systems seemed to phase out the clutch to clutchless type a/c compressors as well, in the Mark V platform and the New Beetle seemed to follow suit.
