In Java, leopards inhabit dense tropical rainforests and dry deciduous forests at elevations from sea level to 2,540 m (8,330 ft). Outside protected areas, leopards were recorded in mixed agricultural land, secondary forest and production forest between 2008 and 2014. [102]
Leopards inhabiting the mountains of the Cape Provinces appear smaller and less heavy than leopards further north. [18] Leopards in Somalia and Ethiopia are also said to be smaller. [19] The skull of a West African leopard specimen measured 11.25 in (286 mm) in basal length, and 7.125 in (181.0 mm) in breadth, and weighed 1 lb 12 oz (0.79 kg).
Only one ocelot is known to possess albinism, and the appearance of such a trait in ocelots is likely an indication of shrinking populations due to deforestation. [ 35 ] With a head-and-body length ranging from 55 to 100 cm (22 to 39 in) and a 30 to 45 cm (12 to 18 in) long tail, the ocelot is the largest member of the genus Leopardus . [ 6 ]
It is known for its ability in climbing, and has been observed resting on tree branches during the day, dragging its kills up trees and hanging them there, and descending from trees headfirst. [20] It is a powerful swimmer, although is not as disposed to swimming as the tiger.

Leopards were also sighted in the Musandam Peninsula, [7] particularly Ras Musandam. [9] The home range of Arabian leopards in this reserve is roughly estimated at 350 km 2 (140 sq mi) for males and 250 km 2 (97 sq mi) for females. [16] The Dhofar mountain range is considered the best habitat for leopards in the country.
Its natural habitat is threatened by forest fires and construction of new roads. [1] Due to the small number of reproducing Amur leopards in the wild, the gene pool has such low genetic diversity that the population is at risk from inbreeding depression. [13] In 2015, a wild Amur leopard was found with canine distemper virus in Primorskyi Krai ...
Leopards were known to live on the Meghri Ridge in the extreme south of Armenia, where only one individual was imaged by a camera trap between August 2006 and April 2007, but no signs of other leopards were found during track surveys conducted over an area of 296.9 km 2 (114.6 sq mi). The local prey base could support 4–10 individuals.
