Hi, I just want to know what you guys think of Dartmouth Medical School? The ranking on USNEWS put it at a smack 35th place for research. It is expected because it is pretty much a small school with a class size of around 80 students per class and the research department is good but the numbers of labs doesn't match that of bigger school such ...

Dartmouth Pros-Prestige/name recognition (pro for academic medicine/more competitive specialties?)-Great match list for its perceived "mid-tier" ranking with great connections to west coast, especially as I might want to match back in CA -1.5 year new pre-clinical curriculum, P/F grading

  7. Medical School Rankings | Student Doctor Network

    forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/medical-school-rankings.1450978

As a medical student, I would generally care more about how my school fares for residency than just it's overall medical research ranking, so I would put both those schools in the T10. If pressured, I would remove Michigan, Pitt, UCLA, and maybe Yale (which while often thought of as a T10, falls behind the 10th place pretty consistently on both ...

  8. UVM Larner vs Dartmouth (Geisel) | Student Doctor Network

    forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/uvm-larner-vs-dartmouth-geisel.1490469

Students I've spoken to say the biggest thing about Dartmouth is, as a result of their small student body and VERY remote location, you're kind of forced to interact and end up making lifelong friends. - Medical Spanish track. Gender-Affirming care electives. - Again, nontrad heavy school, but not to the extent of UVM.

  9. Brown and Dartmouth...what's the deal? | Student Doctor Network

    forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/brown-and-dartmouth-whats-the-deal.1193936

I am looking for schools to apply to using the MSAR, and noticed that both Brown's and Dartmouth's medical schools have low 10th percentile GPAs (percentile is 3.4-3.5). I believe I remember hearing that Brown had a lot of undergraduate bias, but was hoping for some clarification regarding both schools because it seems too good to be true.

To a lay person yes they might recognize Dartmouth as an ivy league school and be impressed, but residency directors know that Dartmouth Med's reputation isn't the same as Dartmouth's reputation. I'm not hating on Dartmouth med I am just pointing out that the medical school system is different and undergrad prestige does not equal med school ...
